Dennis Stryker


Dennis J. Stryker is counsel to Stryker Slev Law Group and Chief Legal Officer for Glenn A. Rick Engineering & Development Company. Rick Engineering Company is a multi-discipline civil engineering firm headquartered in San Diego, California, with offices throughout the southwestern United States. Prior to joining Rick Engineering Company, Mr. Stryker was with the law firm originally know as Fisher-Thurber and now a part of K&L Gates.
From the vantage point of working within business, Mr. Stryker is able to bring an extensive background and experience acquired to help guide Stryker Slev’s clients through varied business transactions and matters from the unique perspective of the business.
As counsel to the firm, he provides guidance and advice as the firm’s chief transaction counsel on business and related matters spanning contract negotiations, labor and employment issues, and financial transactions. He provides guidance through the maze of employment and related issues
His experience includes a wide range of real property issues from real property sales and ground and commercial tenant leases to litigation and land use planning. He has assisted corporate clients in their public offerings, including acting as chief counsel for initial offerings, reverse mergers, and private placement of debt and equity and securities related transactions, from public issuances to private transactions. In addition, he can assist in the buy-out of majority and minority shareholders for private corporations. He has created corporate risk management programs, provides advice regarding commercial and professional liability insurance, as well as provide guidance and act as retained an enterprise risk manager.
From his experience gained as house counsel, Mr. Stryker is able to provide Stryker Slev clients that do not otherwise have in-house attorneys, the necessary expertise on a part-time or project basis. Thus affording any business the value of staff counsel.
Mr. Stryker is admitted to practice in Arizona, California, Colorado, the District of Columbia and Nevada. Additionally, he is admitted to appear before the U. S. Supreme Court, 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, U. S. District Court Southern District of California, U. S. District Court Central District of California, U. S. District Court District of Arizona, U. S. Tax Court, Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.
Mr. Stryker’s community activities include serving on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Volunteer Lawyers Program, the local and international Board of Directors for the Association of Corporate Counsel, is an Advisory Board member of Corporate Pro Bono.org, and sits on the Board of Directors of the California Minority Counsel Program, where he served as the board chair for 2006 and 2007. He was also appointed to and served as a member of the City of San Diego Relocation Appeals Board through 2007.
He has been honored by the in-house bar on several occasions and is the recipient of the 2001 Association of Corporate Counsel Pro Bono Attorney of the Year; the 2006 Association of Corporate Counsel In-House Attorney of the Year and the 2008 Association of Corporate Counsel Excellence in Pro Bono Service.
